We are seeking a High-Speed Digital Hardware Engineer to support the development and testing of advanced electrical subsystems and PCBAs for next-generation optical communications systems, including space-based applications. This role involves contributing to and leading the integration and testing of complex hardware systems combining high-speed digital, analog, and electro-optic components. The engineer will also influence system architecture and support future hardware design efforts.
Job Responsibility:
Support and lead integration and testing of electrical subsystems for advanced communications systems
Debug complex electrical issues in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, firmware, mechanical, optical)
Develop integration and test procedures
Contribute to system architecture and future high-speed digital hardware designs
Perform electrical design, analysis, and validation for next-generation systems
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience designing and testing complex mixed-signal hardware
5+ years of experience with: Component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, and board bring-up
High-speed digital systems targeting SoCs or FPGAs (including clocking, power, and high-speed interfaces)
Working in cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical, RF)
Lab equipment (e.g., high-speed oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, signal generators)
3+ years of experience with programming or scripting (e.g., Python, C/C++, Bash)
1+ year of experience with embedded or desktop Linux
Ability to obtain a security clearance is required
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Experience with high-reliability hardware design (e.g., aerospace or defense environments)
Experience designing and testing hardware for space or similarly demanding environments
Familiarity with optical or RF communication systems and digital signal processing
Experience translating system requirements into hardware specifications (e.g., data converters, signal chains)
Experience with modern high-speed interfaces and components, including: SERDES
RF ADCs/DACs
DDR memory
Experience with FPGA-based systems (e.g., AMD/Xilinx platforms)
Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics Xpedition or similar)
