An AHN High School performing arts teacher is tasked with the planning and execution of instruction in the prescribed content domain, covering the prescribed curriculum for the coursework assigned. Specific competencies for this role include Musical Theater, acting, Dance and Vocal Instruction. Strength in all three areas is preferred, however individuals demonstrating competencies in one or more of these areas will be considered.
Job Responsibility:
Designs and delivers engaging performing arts instruction through assigned courses and ensembles in areas of expertise that may include vocal music, dance, musical theater, and related performance disciplines
Creates and implements curriculum maps and course goals aligned with National and State arts standards
Differentiates instruction to support students at varied ability levels
Plans and facilitates authentic performance opportunities
Collaborates with colleagues to support interdisciplinary performing arts initiatives
Develops performance repertoire, choreography, and/or artistic programming reflective of diverse traditions
Maintains instructional spaces, equipment, and safety standards
Balances a robust performance and rehearsal schedule with sensitivity to student well-being
Leads and directs the High School Musical Theater production
Designs and implements curriculum and co-curricular experiences that develop student skills in acting, vocal performance, stage movement, stage craft and set design
Collaborates with faculty, accompanists, and production staff to coordinate all aspects of performances
Cultivates a respectful rehearsal environment
Guides students in character development, script analysis, and performance techniques
Provides opportunities for student leadership within productions
Manages production timelines, budgets, and communication with families
Ensures performances reflect a high standard of artistic excellence
Aligns theatrical productions with school events and traditions
Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts
Florida teaching credential (or equivalent) is preferred
Demonstrated commitment to pursuit of continuing education in the field of performing arts
Experience teaching youth and leading ensembles
Experience with Musical Theatre coordination, casting, and direction
