Job Description:

HPE High School Internship for students to gain experience with real technologies in a modern software engineering role. Interns work on projects related to real internal business needs and public facing projects, providing exposure to frontend or backend technologies including databases.

Job Responsibility:

Build and enhance knowledge in software development methodologies, principles, practices, and the software development lifecycle
Perform development activities: developing new features
identifying, fixing, and documenting bugs
participating in peer code reviews
contributing to team knowledge base
analyzing and designing software and configuration changes
Learn about deployments, security, and technologies not commonly taught in school
Gain exposure and growth expertise on a wide variety of technologies
Work closely with Software Development engineers and possibly QA teams and Project Management teams

Requirements:

Minimum age 16
Must have completed 1+ year of coding courses
Knowledge of at least one technology: C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python
Familiarity with design for real world usage
Ability to perform testing and debugging of applications
Ability to interact with users to define system requirements
Ability to write documentation
Ability to collaborate with peers, engineers, technicians, and external design partners
Ability to interact with high-level individual contributors, managers, and program core teams

Nice to have:

Preference for students who know at least one technology: HTML/CSS/Angular
Oracle or SQL Server databases (P-SQL/T-SQL is a bonus)
RESTful APIs or SOAP APIs
Node
GitHub
Asynchronous/Parallel Programming
HPE CodeWars participants and HPE School Certificate holders preferred
Some experience in software application tools (such as Eclipse or Visual Studio Code)
Basic understanding of the differences between writing applications for Windows vs. Linux vs. Macs
The drive to seek out what's next and to deliver exceptional results
A collaborative, solution focused spirit and overall sense of urgency
Comfort with working in a hybrid (virtual and face-to-face) environment
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Willingness to try to solve a problem first, and then ask questions if the attempt didn't work
