Job Description

At Langdons, we're growing and looking for an HGV Trailer Technician to help keep our fleet safe and reliable, ensuring our 400+ trailers are serviced and repaired efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with company and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensuring trailers are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards
  • preparing and presenting trailers for MOT inspections
  • diagnosing trailer-related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken
  • liaising with trailer manufacturers regarding acquiring of parts and replacement vehicles, keeping key colleagues informed of progress where necessary
  • ensuring high levels of safety and cleanliness at all times and that required house-keeping duties meet required standards
  • updating and maintaining appropriate digital records and ensuring all relevant information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis

Requirements

  • Class 1 licence (preferred but not essential)
  • strong mechanical background with hands-on experience
  • Level 2 qualified, time-served, or IRTEC trained
  • confident using transport repair tools and diagnostic software
  • ability to follow procedures while problem-solving and making sound judgements when needed

  • Utilise diagnostic equipment and software to identify fault codes and carry out root cause analysis
  • Carry out repairs to engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and braking systems
  • Fit and replace components to a high standard, ensuring vehicles are returned to service promptly and safely
