At Grundon, we are on the lookout for a dynamic, passionate, and driven HGV Technician to join our team based in Beenham. Reporting into the Workshop Manager you will play a key role in driving our mission forward by delivering a high quality, reliable, and cost-effective vehicle maintenance service, ensuring maximum vehicle availability and minimal downtime.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on vehicles, including warranty work, ensuring tasks are completed to agreed deadlines and in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards
Prepare and present HGVs for annual MOT testing
Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, accurately reporting any defects
Complete service documentation and job records in line with company procedures, and follow incident and near-miss reporting processes where required
Maintain a safe, clean working environment, complying with health and safety regulations, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments, including correct use of PPE
Support and guide apprentice technicians while contributing positively to the wider team
Provide roadside assistance when safe to do so and participate in ongoing training to maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge
Work reliably to agreed hours, with flexibility to support operational needs, including occasional cover at other site
Requirements:
Hold a City & Guilds (Parts 1, 2 & 3), NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent in HGV maintenance
alternatively, have at least 10 years’ relevant experience
Ideally possess a valid HGV licence (minimum Class 2), digital tachograph card, and Driver CPC, with a good understanding of tachograph systems
Have strong technical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with the ability to carry out safe, efficient, and cost-effective repairs
Demonstrate a solid understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices
Communicate effectively and maintain a professional approach with colleagues and customers
Be able to work both independently and as part of a team, using initiative and flexibility to take on new tasks
Apply strong problem-solving skills in a practical working environment
Our HGV Technicians are required on occasions to work at height, which requires the use of safety equipment that have a manufacturers’ guaranteed load bearing weight limit of 140kg. In order to protect our employees’ safety, we operate a strict weight limit in these roles of 140kg. As part of our application process, you will be required to declare that you do not weigh in excess of this.
