Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HGV Mechanic to join our busy workshop. You’ll play a key role in maintaining Ringway’s specialist fleet, ensuring all vehicles are safe, compliant, and ready to support essential highway operations. Job Responsibility

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and specialist plant
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and compliance checks
  • Complete maintenance records in line with company and legal standards
  • Work efficiently to minimise downtime and support operational targets
  • Maintain high levels of health, safety, and workshop housekeeping

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills
  • Good understanding of DVSA/VOSA compliance standards
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 beneficial but not essential)
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • A commitment to safety and high quality workmanship

Nice to have

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred)
  • HGV Class 1 or 2 beneficial but not essential
  • Experienced in Mercedes & DAF vehicles
  • In depth diagnostics using Texa & Snap on machines
  • MOT tester class 4&7 (class 5 beneficial)
