SHIFT: 12 hour shifts (3 per week). 6a-6:30p (Occasional 530a-6p if needing to open clinic). Weekend Commitment: (E/O Saturday). Holiday Commitment: (3 Holidays per year). Occasional per-diem call on Sunday. PRIMARY FUNCTION: To assist nurses with patient and non-patient care. To maintain hemodialysis machinery. To invent and order water source and machine supplies. To perform minor repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance on hemodialysis machines and water sources.
Job Responsibility

Assist with feeding patients, moving and positioning patients, removal and insertion of AV fistula/graft needles
Perform accucheck tests
Obtain weights and vital signs
Perform escort duties including transferring patients to and from dialysis units
String and test conductivity and pH of machines
Move dialysis equipment to other areas of hospitals
Cap off PD patients and maintain PD inventory
Control inventory by ordering supplies
Stock patient care areas
Daily water room monitoring
Obtain cultures monthly from RO machines
Clean and disinfect RO machines monthly
Obtain cultures monthly on portable dialysis machines
Clean and disinfect portable dialysis machines
Provide minor maintenance and repairs on dialysis machines
Maintain records of cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of dialysis machines
Quarterly disafe filter replacement
Monthly micron filter replacement
Semi-Annual re-bedding of Carbon tanks
Semi-annual endotoxin filter replacement
Quarterly low & high pH descale cleaning
Multi-media and softener re-bed every 2 years
Obtain, monitor and document bacterial cultures and endotoxin results
Maintain compliance with AAMI standards
Orient staff to water source
Educate staff regarding machine troubleshooting
Attend water source maintenance continuing education & training
Perform assigned work safely
Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Must have graduated from Certified Dialysis Technician program or complete this program within 18 months of hire
Minimum five years patient care experience required
Three to five years of dialysis experience required
