Job Description

A hospital in San Francisco, California is looking for hematology/oncology physician assistants or nurse practitioners to provide additional coverage for increased patient load. Providers can expect management of adverse reactions, coordinating transfers and direct admissions with the ED, and providing comprehensive patient care from diagnosis through treatment. No procedures required, though line removal is preferred.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide care for adult oncology patients, primarily in an outpatient setting
  • Manage a daily caseload of 8-10 patients
  • Collaborate closely with oncology physicians, APP colleagues, RNs, and MAs
  • Perform routine care, manage chronic stable medical conditions, and follow specialty protocols such as chemotherapy
  • Review labs, imaging, and treatment plans
  • adjust care plans based on clinical findings and established protocols
  • Support inpatient oncology needs as appropriate and within scope of experience
  • Management of adverse reactions
  • Coordinating transfers and direct admissions with the ED
  • Providing comprehensive patient care from diagnosis through treatment

Requirements

  • Active CA, NP/PA License
  • Board Certification
  • BLS Certification
  • DEA
  • EPIC experience
  • 2-3 years oncology experience

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and adherence to institutional and national oncology care standards
  • Provide consistent on-site coverage for the inpatient hematology/oncology service, including weekend/holiday call coverage schedule
  • Manage a dynamic patient census with varying acuity, prioritizing timely consult response and daily rounding
