Job Responsibility:
Learn to read menu to estimate food requirements
Order food from supplier or procure it from storage
Prepare and cook food in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes
Learn to adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and steam kettles
Help measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment
Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods under guidance
Test food by tasting, smelling and piercing to determine that it is cooked
Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, and add gravies, sauces and garnishes to fill orders as directed
Wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables and fruits
Butcher chicken, fish and shellfish as directed
Bake bread, rolls, cakes and pastry as course of instruction permits
Maintain work area and equipment
Follow principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
Interact with customers and coworkers in a courteous, efficient and friendly manner
Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
At least one year of full service culinary experience in a restaurant or healthcare setting required
Ability to work part-time schedule with flexible hours including weekends
Ability to perform physical tasks related to food preparation
Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
Willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
At least one year of full-service culinary experience in a restaurant or healthcare setting
Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain quality food preparation
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
Availability to work varied days and hours including weekends
