Job Description:

Brisbane City Council is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join the Fleet Solutions division. This critical role will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a variety of Brisbane City Council vehicles, plant equipment, and trucks. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with Brisbane City Council, you will be an integral part of our workshop team, responsible for the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and plant equipment. This role offers a dynamic and challenging work environment where adherence to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices is essential. Location: Wacol, Brisbane 4076. Schedule: 4 day weeks (Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri). Hours: 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM (9.5-hour days) Pay: Penalties included after 38 weekly hours etc. Perks: Onsite parking, PPE & Tools Provided.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform diagnostic assessments and mechanical repairs on a diverse range of vehicles and plant equipment
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, including inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes
  • Manage parts inventory while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the workshop
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely service delivery
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all work performed, including parts and materials utilized

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
  • Australian-recognized Heavy Vehicle Trade Certificate
