The Corporation of the City of North Bay is currently accepting applications for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator within the Public Works Department.

Job Responsibility:

Reporting to the Landfill Operations Supervisor
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of landfill heavy equipment
Duties include receiving, placing, compacting, and covering waste in accordance with municipal by-laws and Ministry of the Environment regulations
Assist the public by directing them to appropriate dumping areas and ensuring compliance with site procedures

Requirements:

Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent acceptable experience
Must have three (3) years’ experience in the operation of a utility loader, dozer, excavator, landfill trash compactor and other various heavy equipment required in the landfill maintenance field
Must have minimum 1 year experience plowing and sanding
Must possess a valid SWANA – Landfill Operations Basics Certification
Must possess a valid Firearms License
Demonstrated ability to deal with the public
good communication skills
Sufficient clerical ability to complete daily reports
Must be able to follow directions explicitly
Must hold a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement
Must have a good work, driver and operator record
Applicants will be subject to equipment operations assessment
