Job Description:

We are looking for a Heavy Duty Equipment mechanic, apprentice, or similarly qualified individual, for Newco Metal & Auto Recycling Ltd. As a mechanic for Newco you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, tire changes, etc. Newco Metal’s has a variety of equipment, applicants must be willing to work on but not limited to; trucks, trailers, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc. All applicants welcome, possible enrolment of qualified individuals into apprenticeship program.

Job Responsibility:

Replace and repair tires
Grease trucks, trailers, equipment, etc.
Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services
Performs repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment as required
Performs maintenance related work as required
Maintains a clean, safe work area
Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of the shop
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
Other duties as required

Requirements:

Valid Drivers license
Strong work ethic
First Aid Certificate considered an asset but not a requirement
Physical requirements of this position include the ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally must work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Work hours may require overtime, weekends and/or holidays
Must be able to supply your own set of hand tools to perform basic repairs

Nice to have:

First Aid Certificate considered an asset
Experience an asset
