Job Description

The role of a Super Heavy Truck (SPL) driver-handler is one of the most sought-after professions in road transport. Heavy and Super Heavy Truck drivers handle the daily loading and unloading of high-value goods across France. The Heavy (PL) or Super Heavy (SPL) Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivering goods on local, regional, or national routes. They must ensure the safety and integrity of the transported products while complying with current regulations and delivery deadlines. Drivers must follow company prevention plans and adhere to client-specific protocols.

Job Responsibility

  • Packing and unpacking heavy machinery and equipment
  • following loading and delivery instructions, including hitching and unhitching
  • driving the assigned vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and safety rules
  • adhering to transport regulations and directives issued by supervisors
  • applying safety instructions
  • unloading vehicles
  • maintaining the vehicle in good operating condition and cleanliness
  • operations related to goods transport, such as load securing, completing administrative and commercial documents, and inspecting goods
  • performing vehicle loading/unloading and routine maintenance

Requirements

  • Category C driver’s license
  • Category CE driver’s license
  • mandatory Initial Qualification in Freight Transport (FIMO marchandises)
  • inspecting the vehicle’s operating condition
  • performing hitching operations (connecting/disconnecting, traction tests, etc.)
  • planning delivery routes based on instructions
  • organizing or supervising the loading of goods onto the vehicle
  • checking the presence and compliance of transport and vehicle documents
  • verifying delivery accuracy
  • coordinating product transfers and deliveries to clients
  • monitoring activities and reporting
  • initiating emergency measures in case of incidents
  • may also require additional CACES® certifications for operating specific equipment
