Job Description

Our client, a well-respected healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of the hospital. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, revenue cycle oversight, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibility

Direct and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end close processes
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and healthcare industry standards
Lead the organization's annual budgeting process, including full-cycle budget development, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning
Partner with department leaders and executive management to monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Provide oversight of revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, reimbursement, cash management, and revenue integrity initiatives
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and healthcare regulatory requirements
Coordinate and manage annual audits, cost reports, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements
Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
Analyze financial results and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership
Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting and finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience within a hospital, health system, or healthcare organization
Strong knowledge of healthcare accounting, reimbursement methodologies, revenue cycle management, and regulatory reporting
Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Expertise in GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal controls
Experience leading audits and working with external auditors and regulatory agencies
Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across multiple departments
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
Proficiency with healthcare financial systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel

Nice to have

CPA designation
Experience with acute care hospitals, community hospitals, or multi-site healthcare organizations
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement methodologies
Experience supporting strategic financial initiatives and operational improvement projects
