At Care Fertility, our Healthcare Assistants play a vital role in supporting our team of Registered Nurses, Midwives, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to deliver exceptional fertility care. You will help coordinate patient treatment cycles and provide safe, compassionate and professional support to individuals and couples at every stage of their fertility journey. Job Responsibility:
Provide clear, supportive information to patients regarding their treatment plan
Manage patient enquiries face-to-face, over the phone or via video call
Demonstrate an inclusive approach, meeting the diverse needs of all patients
Offer empathy, emotional support and signposting to internal counselling and external support services
Participate in patient events and act as a positive ambassador for Care Fertility
Keep up to date with Care’s induction, training and competency processes
Support consultations and outpatient care, including measuring height, weight and blood pressure
Perform phlebotomy once trained and assessed as competent
Support day-case procedures — preparing the Procedure Room, assisting during procedures and supporting patient recovery following sedation
Carry out abdominal scanning duties in the Procedure Room once fully trained and competent
Enter and retrieve information on the clinical patient database, ensuring accurate and timely records
Use digital systems to follow clinical pathways and support efficient processes
Confidently use Microsoft Outlook for effective communication with colleagues
Contribute ideas for improving systems and working practices
Build strong, trusted relationships within the nursing team and the wider multidisciplinary team
Contribute positively in team meetings and support new initiatives
Share knowledge openly and act as a supportive mentor to colleagues
Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all interactions
Follow all standard operating procedures and the HFEA Code of Conduct
Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records
Use the Datix system to report incidents and near misses, helping drive continuous improvement
Support audit activities and quality management processes
Comply with Infection Prevention & Control, Health & Safety and Adult Safeguarding requirements
Complete mandatory training and participate in competency assessments
Always maintain patient confidentiality in line with the HFEA Code of Practice and Care policies
Manage patient data responsibly, following the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR principles
Keep clinical knowledge up to date through learning pathways, CPD and participation in annual Personal Development Reviews
Take responsibility for your ongoing skills development and revalidation (if applicable)
Requirements:
Good standard of general education
Evidence of ongoing professional development
Experience in a patient-facing or care environment
Basic clinical skills (e.g. observations)
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Nice to have:
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
Phlebotomy training or certification
Previous experience within a fertility or women’s health setting
