Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Pre Assessment department. This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern, including night shifts.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity
  • Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate
  • Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment
  • Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training)
  • Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids
  • Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
  • Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
