The Health Unit Coordinator attends the nursing station, performs clerical and reception duties, and requests supplies, equipment and services as directed. Performs clerical duties for patient admissions, discharges and transfers. Maintains Census Activity Worksheet and other pertinent records. Checks patient charts for completeness. Obtains patient records/documents as requested. Processes physician and other healthcare team orders. Transfers orders to appropriate forms/departments/personnel. Answers patient call lights and in-coming telephone calls. Directs calls to appropriate personnel. The HUC may assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard.

Requirements:
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
High School Diploma/GED
Nice to have:
Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred.
