Health Unit Coordinator

• Attends the nursing station, performs clerical and reception duties, and requests supplies, equipment and services as directed
• Performs clerical duties for patient admissions, discharges and transfers
• Maintains Census Activity Worksheet and other pertinent records
• Checks patient charts for completeness
• Obtains patient records/documents as requested
• Processes physician and other healthcare team orders
• Transfers orders to appropriate forms/departments/personnel
• Answers patient call lights and in-coming telephone calls
• Directs calls to appropriate personnel
• May assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard.

• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
• High School Diploma/GED

Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred.
