Job Description

As the Health, Safety & Training (HST) Advisor, you will be responsible for organizing and arranging safety, on-the-job, operational, and values training for all plant employees. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have an interactive role with the Management team while providing support for all employees on the site.

Job Responsibility

  • Facilitate safety and operational orientation for new hires, ensuring compliance with training requirements
  • Collaborate with employees and management to develop and maintain career development plans and training needs
  • Conduct mill safety reviews, investigations, and audits, monitoring compliance with corporate safety directives
  • Lead divisional safety practices, including chairing safety committee meetings and promoting participation in health and safety practices
  • Provide guidance, training, and support for trainers, while fostering excellent employee relations and addressing inquiries about policies and procedures
  • Coordinate environmental responsibilities, including conducting tests and samples, maintaining records, and supporting audits in collaboration with Canfor's environmental team

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in training & development in a health and/or safety role
  • Safety management experience would be an asset (e.g., Enablon)
  • Experience in managing Safety Programs
  • Working knowledge of web-based computer applications and Microsoft Office
  • The ability to be a champion of safety at all times and a subject matter expert in OSHA regulations and safety best practices

Nice to have

  • College degree in Business or an industrial-related field
  • Additional safety coursework
  • Industrial manufacturing experience
