Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Health & Safety and Security management at The Westin Dragonara Resort Malta.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the resort’s Health & Safety management system
  • Ensure full compliance with local legislation, company policies, and Marriott International standards
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, inspections, and safety reviews across all operational departments
  • Coordinate and oversee fire safety procedures, emergency response plans, and evacuation drills
  • Develop and deliver Health & Safety training for associates at all levels
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
  • Taking ownership of the waste management data systems recording and reporting on all waste streams
  • Manage the resort’s security operations to ensure the safety of guests, associates, and property
  • Supervise the Security team, ensuring 24/7 coverage, operational readiness, and service excellence
  • Monitor and manage CCTV systems, access controls, alarm systems, and other security technology
  • Establish and maintain protocols for incident reporting, crisis management, and emergency response
  • Liaise with local authorities and emergency services as required
  • Support VIP protection, special events, and high-profile guest visits

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Health & Safety and/or Security management, preferably within hospitality or a large-scale operational environment
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese H&S legislation and emergency response protocols
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent qualification is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyse data, produce reports, and develop improvement action plans
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to emergencies
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
