Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and proactive Health & Safety Projects & Business Partner to join our Health, Safety & Risk team. In this specialist role, you will manage complex health and safety consultancies and lead key projects driven by legislative changes and organizational needs. You will act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, providing expert technical advice to enhance safety performance across a diverse and multi-risk environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Technical Leadership: Deliver high-standard consultancies and conduct complex incident investigations using structured methodologies such as ICAM
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide expert interpretation of OHS legislation and risk management principles to support line managers and executives
  • System Management: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) in alignment with legislative requirements
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate consultative processes with safety committees and HSRs, while influencing leaders to adopt proactive safety strategies
  • Project Delivery: Plan, track, and execute H&S projects aimed at improving workplace processes and policies
  • Training & Capability: Design and facilitate safety workshops, toolbox talks, and training sessions to drive cultural engagement

Requirements

  • Expert Knowledge: Deep understanding of OHS legislation and risk management within complex environments (e.g., higher education, research, or clinical settings)
  • Communication Excellence: The ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, and experience in developing concise business and investigative reports
  • Problem Solving Skills: A demonstrated ability to diagnose and provide creative solutions to complex health and safety issues
  • Project Experience: Proven track record in leading or supporting continuous improvement initiatives and health and safety projects
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with digital safety tools and H&S management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) is highly regarded

  • Support RBC’s Health and Safety Programs by overseeing health and safety processes and procedures, which you have ensured are maintained and up to date
  • Conduct risk assessments, monitor the implementation of risk mitigation measures, and ensure that the appropriate records are maintained and made available as required
