We are looking for a highly organised individual to support the effective implementation and continual improvement of the organisation’s health and safety management arrangements across security operations. You will be required to travel nationally Monday - Friday (40hrs p/w) with occasional out-of-hours visits.
Job Responsibility
Conduct regular site visits across security operations to assess compliance with health & safety standards and safe working practices
Undertake site audits, inspections and workplace assessments, producing clear, concise reports
Support the Health and Safety Manager in ensuring organisational compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and associated regulations and Approved Codes of Practice
Assist in the development, review and implementation of risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work tailored to security operations and client environments
Monitor, track and follow up corrective and preventative actions arising from audits, inspections, incidents and near‑misses
Contribute to organisational audit readiness, including preparation for external accreditations (e.g. ISO 45001) and client‑led compliance or assurance audits
Provide clear, practical health and safety advice and guidance to operational managers, supervisors and frontline security colleagues
Support and participate in incident, accident and near‑miss investigations, identifying root causes and recommending actions
Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports and documentation in line with legal, compliance and audit requirements
Design, deliver and support health and safety training and awareness activities, including inductions, toolbox talks and refresher sessions
Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and, where appropriate, external parties including clients, auditors and regulatory bodies
Requirements
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 health and safety qualification)
Proven experience in a health & safety role
Working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and risk management principles
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence operational staff
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Nice to have
Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH – TechIOSH/GradIOSH)
Experience supporting ISO 45001 or similar management systems
Knowledge of security sector risks (e.g. lone working, violence and aggression, control room ergonomics, patrol risks)
