Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our safety initiatives within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and oversee safety policies to ensure a safe workplace for all employees. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in manufacturing safety standards, and a commitment to continuous safety improvement. The Health & Safety Manager will play a critical role in training staff and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have worked in heavy manufacturing environments, in both union and non-union shops. Oakville & Hamilton Facilities

Job Responsibility

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies tailored to manufacturing operations
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions
  • Design and deliver ongoing training programs focused on safety procedures, hazard recognition, and emergency response
  • Collaborate with management and staff to promote a safety-first culture across all departments
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance documentation
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory changes affecting manufacturing safety standards

Requirements

  • Post secondary education in health and safety
  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of industry-specific safety protocols
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels, ASME codes, and the nuclear power industry is preferable
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing training & development programs related to health and safety
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence positive safety behaviors among diverse teams
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering effective training sessions and safety briefings
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental health standards, and risk management principles
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and analyze complex safety data
  • Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (such as CSP or OSHA certifications)
