A vacancy has arisen for a dedicated, proactive, and collaborative Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability Advisor at PD Ports within the Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability team. This role will have a strong focus on environmental compliance, environmental risk management and the development of sustainable operational practices, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 standards and supporting the organisation's wider sustainability objectives. The role will support a portfolio of operational sites including Groveport, Immingham, Howden, Keadby, Felixstowe, Erith, Purfleet and the Isle of Wight. Location: Humber & South Region (multi-site role). Working Arrangements: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support operational requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting and leading the delivery of site health, safety and environmental inspections, audits, and workplace risk assessments
  • Providing professional advice and guidance to operational teams on safe systems of work and promoting a positive safety culture across all levels
  • Leading on incident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting and identification of corrective actions
  • Supporting the roll-out and monitoring of PD Ports' group-wide HSE initiatives and compliance standards
  • Supporting the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives, helping sites align with objectives

Requirements

  • Holds a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • an environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA Certificate/Associate Membership) is desirable
  • Has practical experience in an HSE role, with demonstrable experience in HSE compliance and/or environmental management systems (ISO 45001 & 14001)
  • Has a good understanding of environmental legislation including waste management, pollution prevention and environmental permitting
  • Is confident in supporting HSE investigations and non-conformance management and has an interest in, or experience of sustainability and continuous environmental improvement initiatives
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage operational teams and drive both safety and environmental performance.

  • Develop, implement, track and test environmental programs such as air and water compliance, above-ground and underground storage tanks, spill prevention and control, hazardous waste and materials management, solid waste recycling and employee training
  • Safely and cost effectively leads the ongoing internal captive landfill operations by providing daily direction to the contractor(s), ensuring all permitting and monitoring requirements are in compliance
