As a Health & Safety Coordinator in our aggregate operations, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our people safe across pits, quarries, and field sites. Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll support the implementation and ongoing improvement of our Safety Management System (SMS). You’ll work closely with site teams, supervisors, and Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSCs) to ensure compliance, lead by example in the field, and help foster a strong, proactive safety culture. This position is based out of our Niagara Falls office, with regular travel to local work sites.
Job Responsibility
Support day-to-day compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and SMS standards
Assist in developing site-specific Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and deliver training to employees
Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and participate in incident investigations
Maintain accurate safety records and submit reports using eCompliance (forms, checklists, field observations)
Participate in JHSC meetings and provide technical support for safety initiatives
Work alongside Supervisors and Managers to implement immediate corrective actions and practical field solutions
Contribute to Safety Alerts and internal communications with real-world, field-driven insights
Prepare and track weekly KPI updates for the Health & Safety Manager
Requirements
3-5 years of aggregate or construction health & safety experience
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety (college diploma or university degree)
CRSP designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle (required for travel between sites)
Solid understanding of health and safety legislation and industry best practices
Strong communication and interpersonal skills—you’re comfortable working with crews, supervisors, and committees
Ability to conduct inspections and support incident investigations in active work environments
Highly organized with strong attention to detail for accurate reporting and documentation
Comfortable using safety management systems such as eCompliance
