We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to play an important part of our growing team to deliver a range of high-profile infrastructure projects. If you are looking for a role where the health, safety and wellbeing of our people is a priority and is backed up by senior leadership commitment, we have a great opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor based in our London office, with travel to project sites. As a proactive Health & Safety Advisor you will have the opportunity to build a positive safety culture across a range of projects where you will be expected to provide expert guidance and support to ensure our teams will be compliant with relevant health and safety legislation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide health and safety support to the project delivery team in line with relevant requirements, including Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015
Promote a positive safety culture across a variety of projects across different sectors
Coordinate H&S Action Groups to share learning and best practice
Undertake audits and other assurance activities on site to assess compliance with legal and client requirements
Monitor and report regularly on health and safety performance
Conduct investigations to identify root cause and share lessons learnt
Communicate alerts, bulletins and other industry learning and best practice
Liaise closely with the supply chain to embed positive safety practices
Represent Story Contracting at various industry forums
Requirements:
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum), or NEBOSH Diploma or working towards is preferred
IOSH Membership
Professional experience of working across multiple sectors such as rail, water and energy would be desirable
Understanding of health and safety risks on major infrastructure projects
Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis
Ability to engage with site teams and sub-contractors to promote a positive safety culture
Excellent IT and reporting skills
Excellent communication skills, translating technical and legal requirements to actionable advice for colleagues and sub-contractors
Forward thinking with ability to predict future risk profile based on past events and industry priorities
Understanding key requirements of various health and safety regulations, such as RIDDOR, COSHH, Working at Height and Confined Spaces.
