Job Description:

Supporting managers in the South and Southeast, as a Health & Safety Advisor at FCC Environment, you will advise managers and supervisors on all safety, health and welfare matters to ensure the company complies with its statutory obligations. You will be expected to keep up to date with legislation, support risk assessments, recommend control measures and PPE standards, plan and conduct inspections/audits, investigate accidents/incidents, manage RIDDOR reporting as required, and travel across South and Southeast regions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Advise managers and supervisors on safety, health and welfare matters across our operations
  • Keep up to date with Health & Safety legislation and support relevant changes as required
  • Support completion and review of risk assessments
  • recommend effective controls and suitable PPE
  • Plan and conduct inspections/audits
  • prepare reports and track corrective actions to completion
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses
  • ensure RIDDOR reporting as required
  • Coach and support managers, supervisors, safety representatives and employees to build a positive safety culture
  • Deliver Health & Safety training and participate in active monitoring and behavioural safety programmes
  • Liaise with regulators (e.g. HSE, Fire Service, Police) on workplace health and safety matters
  • Stop any work where a serious or imminent risk exists or where continuance would breach statutory legislation

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and its practical application
  • Proven experience in a similar Health & Safety Advisory role
  • Clear, confident communicator able to influence, coach and collaborate at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence

Nice to have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience in Waste Disposal, Recycling, Collections or Logistics Sectors
  • Customer-focused mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to reprioritise quickly and positively in a changing environment
