Job Description

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting and overseeing the safety function on a project. Working under general supervision, you’ll help coordinate and maintain safety practices, systems, and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This position will be a permanent night shift role, supporting structures and shaft work operations.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and manage documentation and reports related to project safety programs
  • Implement and oversee safety initiatives for all project personnel
  • Perform regular safety inspections and monitor work areas for compliance
  • Investigate safety concerns and develop corrective actions to resolve issues
  • Build and lead a high-performing team to achieve safety and project goals
  • Exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Set clear expectations, promote accountability, and support team development
  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence and foster relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Lead compliance efforts by understanding and communicating safety reporting procedures and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Diploma or tertiary qualification in the relevant field
  • A proficient level of knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Systems
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with a solid work ethic and a background in the construction industry
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with and support a diverse local community
  • Skilled in identifying challenges and implementing practical, effective solutions
  • Self-motivated and capable of taking initiative and ownership of tasks with minimal supervision

  • Minimum Tech IOSH or IIRSM membership (or working towards)
