Job Description

Play a vital role in delivering ‘Our Mission’ helping every child with a life-threatening condition live their best life. Hope House Children’s Hospice is a centre of excellence for children’s palliative care ensuring every family facing the death of a child gets the very best care and support when and where they need it.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide holistic care and support to children & young people with complex, life-threatening conditions and their families
  • Work in partnership with the child & family in meeting their needs whilst promoting dignity, privacy end of life
  • Undertake a wide range of duties relating to the care and personal needs of the child/young person following appropriate training and assessment of competency
  • Provide high quality care in accordance with the child/young person’s individual care-plan under the supervision of an appropriately qualified registered nurse
  • Participate fully in meeting the play, recreational and learning activities for the child/young person, utilising all resources available and in collaboration with the play leaders
  • Assist in the checking & administration of medicines under the supervision of Registered Nurses and undertake all relevant training required to support safe medicines management

Requirements

  • Previous experience of care work, particularly with children or young people and/or complex needs
  • Compassion and communication skills to put the needs of the child and their family at the heart of everything you do
