We are are looking for a compassionate and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join Ward 35, a busy and dynamic surgical ward caring for patients with a wide range of complex surgical conditions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work in a fast-paced environment while supporting patients through their surgical journey. Ward 35 manages both elective and emergency surgical patients, requiring strong teamwork, excellent clinical support skills and the ability to remain calm and organised in a high-activity setting. As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with routine patient care including personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition and comfort
Support the nursing team with venepuncture and cannulation clinical observations, monitoring vital signs and accurately documenting patient information
Support the team with patient admissions, transfers and discharges
Prepare equipment for clinical procedures
Ensure all documentation is completed accurately
Close observation of patients, recognising and escalating any deterioration promptly
Maintaining infection prevention standards
Supporting patient dignity
Communicating effectively with patients, relatives and the wider multidisciplinary team
Requirements:
Care Certificate
Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake
GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake

At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting

Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.
