Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Safety Representative at our Burns Harbor, IN operation. The Safety Specialist is responsible for actively working with operating, maintenance, and staff departments in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and industrial hygiene programs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Actively work with operating, maintenance, and staff departments in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and industrial hygiene programs
  • Drive injury/fatality prevention

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership daily
  • Act as a coach and mentor to line managers and supervisors in safety leadership
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance and engineering to integrate safety into all aspects of the business
  • Support management during regulatory agency inspections
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of equipment, facilities and work practices to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Maintain and update safety programs and management systems (e.g., ISO 45001)
  • Stay current on evolving safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Participate in incident and accident investigations using root cause analysis to determine causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
