Job Responsibility:
Provide leadership and strategic guidance across all aspects of health, safety, and business continuity
Ensure the organisation operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently
Manage critical risks and business continuity initiatives
Engage with iwi, local communities, and national health and safety stakeholders
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification in health and safety or related discipline
Minimum of 6 years’ practical experience, preferably in local government or complex operational environments
Demonstrated expertise in the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) and related legislation
Proven experience developing, implementing, and auditing health and safety management systems
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence across an organisation
Full, clean driver’s license
Nice to have:
Membership in NZISM or equivalent professional body
Experience in business continuity planning and emergency response
Track record in fostering organisational culture change and health & safety engagement
Experience working with iwi, mana whenua, and in culturally sensitive contexts
Project management or risk management qualifications
