The Health & Safety Coordinator supports the administration and coordination of the College’s health and safety management system across all campuses. The role focuses on maintaining accurate systems and records, coordinating key health and safety activities, and supporting compliance processes to ensure consistency, visibility, and effective monitoring of performance. You will be based at the Highbury Campus; however, this role will involve travel to other College locations across the city, including North Harbour, Sixth Form, and Arundel campuses.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate and administer health and safety records, meetings, and compliance updates
Support inspections, audits, and contractor compliance
Support departments to maintain risk assessments and related documentation
Record incidents and near misses, support investigations, and track corrective actions
Coordinate health and safety training and inductions, maintain training records
Manage health and safety information using Microsoft 365 and relevant systems
Act as a first point of contact for routine health and safety queries and support promotion of a positive safety culture
Requirements:
Ability to travel across all City of Portsmouth College campuses
NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
IOSH membership
Relevant training or qualifications in administration, compliance, or business support (e.g. NVQ/Level 2–3 in Business Administration, Business Support, Office Management, or equivalent)
Strong IT skills, with experience in Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Strong written and oral English communication skills
Full, clean UK driving licence
