You will play a key role in shaping and driving a strong EHS culture across our construction activities and Leeds manufacturing site. In this dynamic, hands‑on role, you’ll partner with cross‑functional teams to elevate safety standards, ensure compliance, and continuously improve performance across the business.
Job Responsibility
Conducting regular EHS audits and inspections for the Leeds & Newton Aycliffe sites, with some inspections at UK construction sites
Travelling across the UK (and occasionally Ireland) to support site teams
Advising and supporting operational teams to ensure legal compliance and audit readiness
Driving a positive safety culture through engagement activities and leading KPIs
Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and non‑conformance reporting
Identifying trends and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001) and managing accreditations (e.g. CHAS, Constructionline)
Assisting with pre‑construction and tender processes
Promoting the use of digital tools (EHS App, Field View) and supporting IMS development
Managing personal injury claims and supporting reporting processes
Collaborating closely with SHEQ, Quality, and Technical teams
Supporting the EHS Manager and Head of SHEQ
Leading by example and championing Etex values throughout the business
Requirements
Proven EHS experience within a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of EHS legislation, construction regulations, and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001)
Practical knowledge of key risk areas including temporary works, lifting operations, working at height, and work equipment (incl. LOTOTO)
Ability to engage, influence, and drive a positive safety culture across all levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying trends and driving improvements
Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
Willing to travel regularly, including overnight stays
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and digital tools)
