Job Description:

Aurora Coalville School is opening its doors in late 2026 and we're looking for an exceptional Headteacher to help lead and develop this exciting new provision. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something truly transformative. Aurora Coalville will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious hub for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Communication and Interaction. With a capacity of 120 students across 3 sites, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.

Job Responsibility:

  • Shape the new school's ethos, culture and strategic direction from the ground up
  • Recruitment and building of entire team
  • Design and implementation of a brand-new curriculum in line with aurora values
  • Accountable for all areas of operational and educational performance within the school
  • Financial performance and management of education and support staff

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area
  • Candidates with Headteacher qualification (such as NPQH) or a willingness to gain such a qualification preferred
  • Experience of working as a senior leader within an SEN environment
  • A clear understanding of Ofsted frameworks and Safeguarding legislation in relation to independent schools
  • Quality assurance experience
  • Team management experience
  • Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
