Job Description:

Our Great Howarth SEN School in Rochdale (OL12) is expanding! The school has a brand new extension and is set to increase from 35 to 70 children of both primary and secondary age ranges. Great Howarth School is a bright and modern independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in Rochdale, the school has recently undergone a major refurbishment and now includes a brand-new primary school building. Across both sites, we meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs, including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, and Autism. At Great Howarth, we deliver a holistic and bespoke curriculum that offers rich learning experiences, helping young people develop the functional and life skills they need to flourish beyond school.

Job Responsibility:

  • Recruit your own staff
  • Work with the central team to build the school offer
  • Build relationships with local authorities so that your school becomes their first choice school in the area
  • Motivate and build teams
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and the central team to ensure success

Requirements:

  • A wealth of experience working as a Head Teacher in a similar SEND environment or setting
  • Have a good understanding about the School Improvement process, effective curriculum models and the development of process, maintain and build your understanding of requirements, helping the school move towards an outstanding rating
  • Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Independent School Standards
  • Ability to motivate, drive and support staff and pupils, using a person-centred approach
  • A real ‘can do, will do’ attitude, with the desire to succeed and improve our school
  • Excellent communication and top-quality relationship building skills
  • Hold Qualified Teacher status
