The Headteacher will have overall responsibility for the academic leadership, operational management, and strategic development of Green Birds Madrasah. The primary focus of the role is to oversee and drive the continued development, quality, and expansion of the madrasah, ensuring excellence across teaching, learning, safeguarding, and administration.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the ongoing development, improvement, and growth of the madrasah - including curriculum planning and development
Monitor teaching quality through observations, feedback, and performance management processes
Oversee student assessment, reporting, and progression frameworks
Ensure full compliance with UK safeguarding, health & safety, and regulatory expectations
Oversee the day-to-day running of the madrasah, ensuring smooth and effective delivery of all classes and activities
Work with administrative staff to manage fees, budgets, resources, and operational logistics
Support the Management Team with recruitment, induction, training, and supervision of teaching and administrative staff
Create and manage staff timetables
Support staff development and foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable working culture
Build strong, professional relationships with parents, students, and the wider community
Promote Green Birds and support student admissions, retention, and community engagement initiatives
Requirements:
Graduate of a recognised Islamic institution (e.g. Dars-e-Nizami, Alimiyyah, Islamic Studies degree, or equivalent)
Strong foundational knowledge and teaching ability in: Qur’an Recitation, Hifz, and Tajweed
Experience teaching children or young people in an Islamic educational setting
Demonstrable experience in leadership, curriculum development, or school management (supplementary schools, madrasahs, or community education settings preferred)
Strong understanding of the UK educational, social, and safeguarding context
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse families and stakeholders
DBS clearance (or willing to obtain)
Nice to have:
Previous experience as a Headteacher, Deputy Head, or Lead Teacher
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification
Familiarity with modern, student-centred teaching approaches
Ability to inspire and motivate young Muslims growing up in the UK
Strong organisational, time-management, and conflict-resolution skills
Confidence using basic school management systems and digital tools
