West Coast Vets are looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our Greymouth clinic nursing team. This role suits an experienced Vet Nurse ready to step up into leadership, or a senior nurse wanting to grow and develop in a supportive, values-driven clinic.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing surgical and hospital nursing support, including anaesthetics, patient care and animal handling
  • Assisting veterinarians with clinical procedures and diagnostics
  • Leading and supporting the veterinary nursing team day to day
  • Delivering vet nurse consults and client education
  • Collecting and submitting diagnostic samples
  • Providing fluid therapy and IV catheter placement
  • Coordinating rosters, leave and team coverage
  • Supporting stock control and restricted drug recording
  • Promoting a positive, safe and well-organised clinic environment

Requirements

  • Hold a Certificate or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience as a Vet Nurse, including surgical support
  • Are a confident communicator with strong people skills
  • Are organised, proactive and calm under pressure
  • Hold a full NZ driver’s licence
