Exciting Opportunity for a Head Technician in Chertsey, Surrey. Le Boat, part of Travelopia, is the world’s leading provider of inland waterway boating holidays. The Head Technician will be responsible for the technical team tasked with maintaining the boat fleet at an optimal level, managing the team's work schedules, and overseeing repairs, including all workshop operations, equipment, tools, and spare parts inventory.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise the corrective and preventive maintenance of boat engines
Regularly inspect the condition of boats inside and out
Take charge of workshop operations
Handle equipment, tools, diesel stock, boat supplies, and gas bottles
Assist the Base Manager in fleet management and planning
Support the Base Manager in sourcing spare parts
Supervise and manage boat operation instructions given to customers
Assist the Base Manager in resolving technical issues during the season
Oversee the winterizing of boats and repair work during the offseason
Ensure safety equipment is worn by the team when necessary
Contribute to achieving base objectives
Be a hands-on Team leader responsible for day to day maintenance and on-call duty to support customers
Requirements:
Technical studies or hands-on experience in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, water pumps, or HVAC repair and general maintenance
Previous experience in boat maintenance
Ability to navigate through specifications and installation instructions
Knowledge of marine diesels and proficient systems (plus)
Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
A deep-seated passion for boating
Hold a valid driver's license
High level of fluency minimum one of the following languages: English / French / Dutch / German
