Job Description:

Head Teacher role at Rodenhurst School, an SEN school providing individualised education within a tailored therapeutic setting specialising in SEMH needs for up to 15 pupils. The school is rated 'Good' by OFSTED and is situated in the Shropshire countryside.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the school, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and care
  • Lead and support a skilled multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous development
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, SEND legislation, and all regulatory requirements
  • Champion inclusive education and the individual needs of every pupil
  • Work closely with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Develop the school’s vision and long-term strategy in line with our values
  • Identify problems and barriers to school effectiveness, and develop school improvement plans that are realistic, timely, costed and suited to the school’s context
  • Monitor progress towards achieving the school’s aims and objectives
  • Manage financial resources appropriately, efficiently and effectively

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience within an SEN setting
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching practices
  • Excellent communication, team-building, and organisational skills
  • A compassionate, child-centred approach and a commitment to positive behaviour support
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential
  • Leadership qualifications (e.g., NPQH) desirable
