Job Description

Pebbles Education are recruiting for a Virtual Head Teacher to lead our Pebbles Connect educational program. Working closely with our schools throughout the UK and our children and young people, you will lead and grow Pebbles Connect into a fully established school. Pebbles Connect is a developing online education provision within Pebbles Education, designed to support our young people who require a more flexible, personalised approach to learning, delivering a quality and inclusive learning environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide strong, visible leadership for Pebbles Connect
  • Lead, manage, and support a remote staff team
  • Oversee staff performance, professional development, and well-being
  • Lead the ongoing development of Pebbles Connect into a fully operational online school
  • Design and implement systems, structures, and processes to support scalable growth
  • Contribute to strategic planning
  • Support readiness for accreditation and inspection processes
  • Ensure the provision meets expected standards
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning through robust QA processes
  • Maintain accurate records, data tracking, and evidence of impact
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and education regulations
  • Oversee the development of an engaging and flexible online curriculum
  • Lead on the effective use of ICT teaching platforms and digital learning tools
  • Drive innovation in online pedagogy and learner engagement
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all learners
  • Work closely with internal teams, care staff, and external partners
  • Communicate effectively with local authorities, carers, and other stakeholders
  • Represent Pebbles Connect professionally in meetings and external events

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Significant experience in a leadership role within education
  • Proven ability to lead and manage staff effectively
  • Strong understanding of teaching, learning, and curriculum development
  • Experience using digital/online learning platforms
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead a remote team
  • Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, SEND, and SEMH needs
  • Full UK driving licence

Nice to have

  • Headship experience or senior leadership experience (e.g. Deputy Head)
  • Understanding of inspection frameworks (e.g. Ofsted)
  • Experience in alternative provision, SEND, or trauma-informed practice
  • Experience developing or leading online/blended learning provision
  • Knowledge of safeguarding in an online context
