Job Description

The Head Teacher provides leadership and direction for a high-quality early childhood classroom serving children ages 3–5. This educator designs and implements developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences that promote social-emotional growth, pre-academic readiness, and independence. The Head Teacher models best practices in early education and behavior support, supervises assistant teachers, and collaborates closely with families and the program director.

Job Responsibility

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive, play-based curriculum aligned with early learning standards
  • Design daily activities supporting early literacy, math, science, art, and motor development
  • Conduct observation and authentic assessment of each child’s progress
  • Foster a warm, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom climate
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies consistent with ABA principles
  • Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom aides
  • Communicate regularly with families and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health, and safety standards

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • State certification in Early Childhood or equivalent credential
  • Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with preschool-age children
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and positive behavior supports
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
