The Head Sommelier is responsible for leading the wine and beverage program to enhance the overall dining experience across the property. This role ensures exceptional wine service, thoughtful curation of the wine list, effective inventory management, and continuous training of the Food & Beverage team, always aligned with luxury hospitality standards and personalized guest service.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, train, and schedule the sommelier and beverage service team to ensure seamless operations and outstanding guest service
Curate, update, and maintain a balanced and high-quality wine list aligned with the culinary concept and guest expectations
Manage wine purchasing, inventory control, storage conditions, and cost efficiency
Provide expert wine recommendations and personalized pairings tailored to each guest’s preferences and menu selections
Deliver elegant and knowledgeable tableside wine service
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and local wineries
Organize wine tastings, team trainings, and educational sessions to elevate product knowledge within the F&B team
Collaborate with the Executive Chef and restaurant leadership on seasonal menus, pairings, and special events
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and responsible alcohol service regulations
Support VIP services, private dining, and special events with curated wine experiences
Requirements:
3–5 years of experience as a Head Sommelier or Senior Sommelier in a luxury 5-star hotel or fine-dining environment
Recognized sommelier certification (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent) preferred
Extensive knowledge of international wine regions, varietals, vintages, and professional service techniques
Strong leadership, communication, and team-development abilities
Passion for guest experience and personalized luxury service
Excellent organizational, financial, and inventory-management skills
Fluency in English and Spanish
Degree or diploma in Hospitality, Gastronomy, or a related field preferred
