Job Description:

Four Seasons Hotel Firenze is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Sommelier to lead our wine program and elevate the guest dining experience. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional product knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a genuine passion for delivering world‑class hospitality. The Head Sommelier oversees the outlet's wine operations and supervises the performance and training of the Sommeliers ensuring Four Seasons standards are met. This position creates and updates wine lists, makes recommendations on food and wine pairings, and advises guests on wines based on their tastes and preferences.

Job Responsibility:

  • Curate, enhance, and maintain a distinguished wine list aligned with the restaurant’s concept and clientele
  • Supervise, develop, and train the sommelier team and all colleagues involved in beverage service
  • Provide warm, professional, and solution‑oriented support when handling and resolving guest concerns
  • Collaborate closely with the F&B Leadership Team to anticipate operational needs and communicate guest feedback effectively
  • Deliver an engaging and expertly executed beverage experience in accordance with Four Seasons standards of quality, professionalism, and genuine hospitality
  • Present the wine list and beverage offerings with confidence, providing vivid, accurate, and engaging descriptions to guide guests
  • Prepare beverages following established recipes, ensuring correct ingredients, garnishes, portions, and preparation methods
  • Serve wines and beverages with precision and elegance, in line with guest preferences and service etiquette
  • Offer tailored food‑and‑wine pairing recommendations based on guest tastes and menu selections
  • Manage beverage inventory levels, purchasing, and stock rotation to ensure efficient, accurate, and professional service, with a strong emphasis on wine program excellence

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of sommelier experience in a luxury hotel, fine‑dining, or Michelin‑level restaurant
  • A high level of wine knowledge, including an extensive understanding of wine making process, main wineries and wine regions
  • Certified Sommelier qualification
  • Strong understanding of food-and-wine pairing principles
  • Proficiency in using the Micros Operating System
  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills, an outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any request
  • Inspiring, hands‑on leader with strong communication and coaching abilities
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the Italian and English language
