Job Description:

The Head of Warehousing & Distribution is responsible for leading all warehousing, inventory control, and distribution operations across Hunter Douglas fabrication sites. This role ensures the efficient and safe storage, movement, and fulfillment of materials and finished goods, driving excellence in operational performance, service reliability, and cost optimization. The position will oversee all warehouse managers and foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability aligned with Hunter Douglas’ strategic supply chain goals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and execute the warehousing and distribution strategy in alignment with the broader Supply Planning vision
  • Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse management teams across multiple locations to ensure operational excellence and engagement
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and operational scorecards focused on safety, service, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost performance
  • Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics to ensure end-to-end supply chain alignment
  • Standardize and optimize warehouse and distribution processes across all facilities to achieve world-class performance
  • Implement and sustain Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency and eliminate waste
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards (OSHA, DOT, ISO, etc.)
  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure robust training and accountability systems are in place
  • Lead the adoption and optimization of warehouse technologies (e.g., WMS, TMS, automation, and data analytics tools)
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (e.g., robotics, IoT, AI-driven forecasting) to enhance accuracy, speed, and visibility
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify trends, forecast needs, and support proactive decision-making
  • Ensure accurate inventory management and reconciliation through best-in-class control systems and cycle count programs
  • Oversee efficient shipping and receiving processes that meet customer and production requirements
  • Optimize space utilization, layout, and material flow to maximize storage and productivity
  • Partner with transportation and logistics providers to ensure on-time, in-full delivery performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics leadership roles, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Proven track record of leading multi-site warehousing operations and achieving measurable operational improvements
  • Experience implementing and managing modern WMS, TMS, and automation technologies
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement background strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Data-driven mindset with experience leveraging KPIs and analytics for decision-making
  • Deep understanding of inventory management, material handling, and warehouse design principles
  • Ability to drive strategic initiatives while managing daily operational performance
  • High level of business acumen, collaboration, and change leadership
  • Travel up to 40% may be required for site visits
