Job Description:

As the Head of Transport, you will lead a dedicated team of transport professionals within a dynamic, international environment based in Lummen. You combine strategic oversight with active involvement in daily operations, coordinating approximately 1,200 transport movements per month. With your proactive mindset and in-depth expertise in waste legislation, you will optimize processes and ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality logistics solutions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and mentor a team of three professionals, fostering their growth while actively participating in daily transport planning (road, container, and water)
  • Negotiate pricing for new and existing routes and maintain strict oversight of transport expenditures
  • Act as the expert on transport-related waste legislation, ensuring all activities adhere to high quality standards and legal procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimizing and automating workflows to enhance efficiency
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, reporting key metrics and performance insights to the Group Finance and Administration Manager
  • Share relevant market insights with the team to elevate overall performance and strategic decision-making

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent through experience)
  • At least 5 years of experience in an international transport environment
  • Extensive knowledge of road and water transport
  • Expert in applicable waste legislation
  • Proven track record in leading (small) teams
  • Fluent in Dutch and/or English, with a solid command of French
  • Action-oriented and result-driven mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in working with ERP systems
