Job Description

An Opportunity to Shape the Future A highly successful insurance business is entering a significant new phase of growth following a recent private equity-backed acquisition. Already recognised as a market leader within its specialist sector, the business has ambitious plans to accelerate growth, diversify its proposition and substantially increase profitability over the coming years. A key part of that strategy is the expansion of its SME offering. This isn't about maintaining an existing SME division. It's about creating one that becomes a significant driver of future growth, with the support, investment and autonomy to make it happen. For the right individual, this represents a rare opportunity to take ownership of a strategically important area of the business, shape its direction and play a visible role in its long-term success. Why Consider This Opportunity? Senior leaders don't often move for a title alone. They move for influence, challenge, opportunity and the chance to make a genuine impact. This role offers: The opportunity to build and scale a strategically important business unit. Direct exposure to the Executive Leadership Team and investors. The ability to influence business strategy, proposition development and commercial direction. Access to an established customer base, strong brand recognition and significant distribution capability. A business actively investing in growth through technology, product development and acquisitions. Long-term value creation opportunities aligned to the success of the business. If you enjoy building, leading and creating something meaningful rather than simply inheriting an existing operation, this role is likely to be of interest. The Role Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the development and execution of the SME strategy, taking responsibility for creating a scalable proposition capable of delivering significant long-term growth. Key responsibilities will include: Developing and delivering the overall SME growth strategy. Building a market-leading SME proposition that drives profitable growth. Identifying opportunities to leverage the existing customer base through cross-selling and product expansion. Working closely with underwriting, distribution, operations, technology and marketing teams to ensure successful delivery. Developing new products, propositions and routes to market. Improving customer acquisition, retention and lifetime value. Establishing and managing key insurer, capacity and strategic partner relationships. Using market insight and customer understanding to shape future strategy. Building and leading a high-performing SME team. Delivering agreed revenue, growth and profitability targets. Supporting wider transformation and acquisition initiatives where appropriate. About You We're interested in speaking with individuals who can demonstrate: Significant experience within the SME insurance market. A proven track record of delivering profitable growth. Strong commercial and strategic leadership capability. Experience developing, scaling or transforming insurance propositions. A deep understanding of SME customers, products and distribution models. The ability to build strong relationships internally and externally. Experience leading teams and delivering results through others. The credibility, energy and commercial mindset to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
