The Head of Sixth Form will lead and develop the sixth form provision, ensuring high academic standards, pastoral support, and personal development for students. Oversees curriculum planning, student progression, and liaise with staff, parents, and external stakeholders to foster a supportive and successful learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Leadership: Lead and develop the Sixth Form, overseeing transition, recruitment, and the strategic development plan
Academic Leadership: Monitor student progress, implement interventions, and foster independent learning and academic rigour
Pastoral Care & Wellbeing: Lead the pastoral programme, supporting wellbeing, resilience, and ethical development
Enrichment & Student Leadership: Deliver enrichment opportunities and mentor the Student Leadership Team, encouraging wider school contribution
Higher Education & Careers: Oversee university and careers guidance, including mentoring, applications, and A Level results support
Additional Responsibilities: Model the highest standards, use data to target support, and celebrate student success
Requirements:
Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) with a bachelor’s degree
master’s or postgraduate qualification in Education/Leadership and additional leadership training (e.g., NPQH) desirable
5–7 years teaching experience at secondary level, including 2–3 years in leadership or Sixth Form/post-16 management
Proven ability to inspire and lead students and staff with integrity, vision, and academic rigour
Strong pastoral care experience, supporting student wellbeing, guidance, and development
Experience in university and careers guidance, mentoring, and preparing students for competitive global applications
Track record in improving student outcomes, curriculum innovation, enrichment programmes, and student leadership
Resilient, organised, collaborative, and proactive, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
Commitment to student welfare, safeguarding, inclusivity, and continuous professional development
