Job Description

Head of Science (SEN Teacher). Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Curriculum Lead: Science (SEN). Location: Mansfield (Multi-site) Salary: £32,916 - £45,352 (M1 - M6) Contract: Full-Time, Permanent | Term Time Only. The Challenge: Make Science Unforgettable. We believe that a diagnosis should never be a barrier to discovering how the world works. We are searching for a Science Lead who is part educator, part mentor, and part innovator. In this role, you will be the driving force behind a Science curriculum that is as unique as our learners. You'll move away from traditional lecture-style teaching, instead focusing on experiential, multi-sensory learning that captures the imagination of students with SEMH, ASC, and complex learning needs. Your Leadership Journey. This is a hybrid leadership position that keeps you connected to the classroom while giving you the autonomy to steer the subject's direction. Curriculum Architect: You will design and refine a Science offer that works for 1-to-1 environments, small groups, and vocational pathways. Teacher of Teachers: You'll lead from the front, coaching staff and delivering CPD to ensure Science is taught with confidence and creativity across our Mansfield sites. Quality Champion: In partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee quality assurance, ensuring that our teaching standards remain high and our interventions are effective. The Classroom: You will continue to deliver high-impact Science sessions, modelling best practices for your peers. What You'll Bring. QTS: You are a fully Qualified Teacher with a passion for STEM. SEN Expertise: You have experience (or a profound interest) in adapting Science for students with diverse cognitive and emotional needs. Vision: You have practical experience in curriculum development and a "can-do" approach to problem-solving. Mobility: You must have a valid UK driving licence and a vehicle (with business insurance) to travel between our local learning centres. Support & Development. You will never be left to figure it out alone. You'll have a direct line to our Heads of Quality of Education and a seat at the table with our wider network of Curriculum Leads. We invest in our leaders because we know that when you grow, our students thrive. Get in Touch. Ready to lead a Science department where curiosity is the only requirement? Reach out to Paul at Randstad for an application pack or an informal chat: Telephone: 01293 257416 Email: paul.hirchfield@randstad.co.uk. Help our students experiment, explore, and excel. Your leadership starts here.
