Job Description

A financially strong Columbus-based industrial manufacturer is hiring a Head of Sales to lead a 12–13 person team (Regional Sales Managers, National Account Managers, and Inside Sales). This is a well-established organization trusted by large customers such as BMW, GM, Amazon, Meta, Tesla, and SpaceX. The team is performing well and has solid tools and processes in place, but it has lacked consistent leadership coverage—today the President is carrying the sales leadership load, and it’s pulling him away from other core responsibilities. This is a hands-on role for a leader who loves coaching in the field, tightening execution across regions, and building a more repeatable sales operating rhythm—while also shaping strategy and vision as the organization scales.

Job Responsibility

  • Coach and develop the team: Spend real time with reps, especially newer RSMs, helping them prioritize, run the process, and win consistently
  • Drive consistent operating rhythm: Expectations for activity, pipeline hygiene, follow-through, quoting discipline, and forecast accuracy
  • Increase CRM adoption: Reinforce disciplined use of Salesforce and consistent reporting across regions
  • Scale the org thoughtfully: Partner with the President and leadership team on hiring and structure as the team grows

Requirements

  • Proven sales leader: Track record leading a distributed team, building trust, and holding accountability in a fair, structured way
  • Hands-on coach with executive presence: Comfortable rolling up sleeves in the field while also setting direction and elevating performance
  • Industrial familiarity: Must have experience in manufacturing, material handling, industrial distribution, or adjacent environments
  • Balanced background: Can thrive in a mid-sized, pragmatic environment
