Carex is partnering with an early stage healthtech startup to find a strategic and execution-oriented Head of Revenue Cycle Management to lead and scale the systems that power a fast-growing, multi-state network of primary care private-owned practices. This player-coach role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, understands the full revenue lifecycle from credentialing through collections, and is energized by building processes that combine automation, transparency, and human-centered support.
Job Responsibility:
Own and continuously evolve the full revenue lifecycle, including payer credentialing, billing, collections, and escalations
Design and implement scalable workflows that optimize for clean claim rate, time to credential, days to pay, and net collections
Lead with a customer-first mindset, resolving complex RCM and credentialing issues with empathy and clarity
Collaborate with Customer Success to deliver financial transparency and performance confidence to providers
Build proactive communication systems that provide timely updates and strong practice-level visibility
Manage and scale a hybrid team of in-house staff and external vendors, driving high performance and clear accountability
Develop service levels, escalation paths, and coaching practices that grow with the organization
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Growth, Legal, and Customer Success to ensure every practice is credentialed and paid efficiently
Provide strategic insights on payer trends, operational risks, and process improvement opportunities to senior leadership
Requirements:
5–10 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management with a demonstrated track record of improving systems, outcomes, and performance
Experience in startup or scaling environments — you’ve built RCM functions from the ground up, not just inherited them
Proven success managing external vendors and in-house teams with a data-driven and metrics-focused approach
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to lead through ambiguity and maintain composure under pressure
A strong bias toward action, a systems-building mindset, and a deep belief in the transformative power of nurse practitioners in healthcare
